Ukraine will receive 40 more infantry vehicles

Greece has handed over 40 Soviet-designed BMP-1 tanks to Ukraine. In return, the country will receive 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Germany. The Ministry of Defense in Athens confirmed the start of the exchange of rings.

The federal government has agreed to exchange rings with Greece to supply Ukraine with more infantry fighting vehicles. According to the German Defense Ministry, Greece has delivered 40 of her Soviet-made BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, while Athens has delivered 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Germany from industrial stocks. Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht and Greek Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos agreed. Implementation will start soon.

The Greek Ministry of Defense has confirmed the start of the ring exchange and the number of armored personnel carriers that Germany will supply to Greece and Greece will send to Ukraine. According to sources in Berlin, the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle gives Ukraine "a combat-tested and best-known weapon system." The idea of exchanging rings came to me shortly after the Ukrainian War began. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are to be rapidly supplied with Soviet systems that do not require additional training. Countries that surrendered Soviet weapons were to be supplied with Western weapons in return.
